As of last week, every home in Paradise
Falls is now powered with electricity.
Electricians ran wires into the home
of Dave and Michelle Lyle, making the conversion of the
town to early twentieth century technology complete.
It took a while, said Mike
Lyle, head of the Lets Electrify Paradise Falls Committee,
but weve finally got them all now.
The Committee was formed in 1971 in an
effort to bring power to every home in town. Progress was
swift in the 70s but ran into problems in the 80s when three
old order Mennonite families moved in.
Those Mennonite guys really put
a wrench in the works, said Mike Lyle. But eventually
they figured out that Paradise Falls was way too progressive
for their beliefs, and we had those homes wired within hours
of the last buggy rolling out of town.
Since then, only Mikes brother
Dave and his wife have prevented the Committees goal
from being reached. A long-standing feud between the brothers
has kept it that way. Until now.
Im really happy,
said Mike. Its finally done. And I cant
wait to see the looks on their faces when Dave and Michelle
get back from vacation and see the electric lights burning.
