Big Duck Coming to Paradise Falls

By William Needle

For years people have been saying that there’s something missing in Paradise Falls. The Chamber of Commerce has finally figured out what that is: a big duck.

The Chamber of Commerce has commissioned local artist Billy Hunter to produce a 20-foot tall duck. The sculpture will reside in Thistle Park where travelers along the highway can see it.

“Imagine you’re a tourist driving along the highway, and you see Fenmore’s trout and Paradise Falls’ duck along the way. Which one are you going to stop to have your picture taken with?” said Mayor Pete Braga. “It’s not gonna be no giant fish, I’ll guarantee you that.”

Although at first Billy Hunter had his heart set on a giant loon, he is reported to be thrilled by the commission. “I’m very excited,” said Hunter. “It’s great to be recognized and taken seriously as an artist in my community.”

The sculpture is scheduled for unveiling later in the season. PFC
