The Paradise Falls Historical Committee
has declared the old Dillsdale Quarry an official historic
site.
The Quarry, unused since 1969, has been
placed on the list of protected Heritage sites due to its
purported significance to the history of Paradise Falls.
The land is owned by Mansfield Properties,
who recently filed their intention to develop it into cottages.
Because of its new status as a historic site, that development
can no longer happen.
Its important to protect
the history of Paradise Falls but nothings a done
deal, said Paradise Falls Mayor Pete Braga. Who
knows, if Mansfield knows how to persuade me that the land
ought to be developed, maybe I can persuade the Historical
Committee to reverse their decision.
The Dillsdale Quarry now joins
the log cabin in Thistle Park and the Mercury Drive-In lot
as a Paradise Falls historic site. PFC
