Bill Baxter, 66, of Paradise Falls was
only trying to get clean. But a mechanical failure in the
temperature gauge of his hot water heater turned his bathtub
into a cauldron.
I dipped my foot in first,
you know, to test the water, said Baxter. But
it was so hot I yanked it right out. But I yanked too hard
and, well, fell over backwards and hit my head on the toilet.
That cracked my skull open and I fell forward into the bath
completely before being knocked out. So there I was, lying
unconscious in the scalding water until my wife came in,
thank goodness, and rescued me.
He looked like a big bloody lobster
in there, said Baxters wife, Maggie. It
wouldve been funny if he wasnt in so much obvious
pain.
Baxter was taken to hospital and
treated for a concussion along with second degree burns
to over 90% of his body. He was also given thirteen stitches
in his scalp. PFC
