My boyfriend and I were secretly married in Las Vegas when we were down there seeing Tom Jones at the Flamingo Room. That was two months ago, and we still haven’t told anyone about the wedding.

I’m happy as punch about it, and my husband says he’s happy too, but he doesn’t want anyone to know.

Shirley, I’m dying to tell people but I don’t want to upset my husband. What should I do?

What’s wrong with you?

I’m not sure what vows you took in Las Vegas, but when last I checked, marriage involves loving AND obeying one’s spouse. It seems to me your path is pretty clear.

It’s not unusual to want to share your happiness, but if you can’t keep a secret what kind of wife are you?

Life is about responsibility and commitment. You must always keep the promises you make.

Just remember what happened in the Tom Jones song “Delilah” – first she was laughing at him, then he felt the knife in his hand and she laughed no more. Think about it.

Marriage is forever ‘till death do you part.
