Investigating detective Jeff Bradshaw
of the Orillia branch of the Ontario Provincial Police confirmed
that the Mayor is a suspect.
“Mansfield was found dead in the
Mayor’s office,” said Bradshaw. “He was shot
with the Mayor’s gun. The Mayor admits to pulling the
trigger. Is the Mayor a suspect? You could say that.”
Although a suspect, Mayor Braga has not
been arrested.
“It was self-defense,” said
Braga. “He waltzes into my office looking for help
and then he pulls a gun at me. What am I supposed to do?
Roll over?”
Braga’s claims of self-defense are
being questioned due to the absence of any credible evidence
showing that Mansfield was actually threatening the Mayor.
The gun that Braga claims was being brandished at him was
not found, nor were any of the bullets allegedly fired by
Mansfield.
The investigation continues.
