Cow Goes Missing, Feared Lost or Stolen

By William Needle

Local cattle farmer Stanley James was horrified the other day when he went to milk the herd and found his prize-winning heifer Munificent missing.

“She was there when the cows came home,” said James. “I tucked her into her stall and everything. But this morning, there was nothing there. Not even a pie.”

Munificent was the red ribbon winner in the past three years’ “Best Milker” contest at the Fenmore Fair. Her loss would be a great blow to James’ herd.

James is “terribly worried” about the cow. “She gets terribly grumpy when she isn’t milked first thing,” he said. “She’s not normally a violent animal, but I don’t know what she’d do if her udder isn’t emptied pretty soon.”

Investigation of the scene is still pending, with local police claiming to have more pressing concerns. PFC
