Lightning Strikes Local Man…Again

By Woodrow von Hammer

Fenmore resident Byron Leckie, 26, leads a charged life…literally. During last night’s fierce electrical storm Leckie was struck by lightning…for the third time this year.

“It’s been a shocking summer,” said Leckie. “And frankly, I’m getting a little tired of it. I’m totally fried!”

Leckie hails from Liverpool, where lightning is also common, but has been in Fenmore all summer making audio recordings of mosquitoes for New Age ambient music CDs.

He was in the Fenmore swamp capturing the sounds of Aedes sollicitans, the Black salt march mosquito, for a piece called “Bugs In a Storm” when lightning struck his boom mic.

When asked what it feels like to be struck by so many gigawatts of electrical power, Leckie said, “It’ll blow your socks off…literally.” PFC
