Hot on the heels of last year’s
drag races comes a new automobile fad for local youths:
loudness. And at least one car expert is fed up to the ears
with it.
“Teens have been purposefully removing
the mufflers from their cars,” said Art Dingle, mechanic.
“It’s dumb.”

Friday nights on the strip are a cacophony
of engine noises as modified Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds,
Chargers, Trans Ams, and El Caminos can be heard cruising
up and down the road in Paradise Falls.
Exhaust sales at Dingle’s Garage
are down 26 per cent this year.
“I don’t know why anyone
would do that,” said Dingle. “I just don’t
