“I don’t know where it’s
all going,” says Yorke. “These people must have
a drink in their hands at all times.”
Particularly popular is the venerable
Muskoka Cream Ale, brewed locally by the Muskoka Springs
Brewery and Spring Water Company.
Also up in sales are scotch, which Yorke
says is selling literally by the caseload, and Loon Lake
Wine, both the pink and white Zinfandel varieties.
“I haven’t heard of anything
like this since my daddy’s stories about selling hooch
to Capone.”
When pushed to speculate, Yorke
suggested that the presence of Hollywood people might account
for the dramatic boom in business. PFC
