Boathouse Saved By Long Lost Son

By Woodrow von Hammer

Just as the final boxes were being packed, an eleventh hour rescue of the Boathouse Bar and Grill came from none other than owner Bea Sutton’s long lost son Samuel.

“What’s the point in having money if you can’t use it to help people,” Samuel Sutton said. “Especially your…parent.”

The Coop Bank of Central Northern Ontario called in the Boathouse’s line of credit, giving Bea Sutton until Friday to pay the $80,000 or lose the business. At the last moment, the younger Sutton bailed his mother out.

Samuel Sutton is the owner of an accounting software development firm in Hamilton. He arrived in Paradise Falls recently for a family reunion, after being estranged for many years.

The Boathouse is part of the Paradise Falls marina complex, a popular spot for tourists and residents alike. PFC
